Well, this morning provided opportunity to either be aggravated or make the best out of situations. I woke up and rushed the kids out the door for play day at the park that some ladies at the church were doing. I got there and stayed an hour and no one showed. I guess everyone was busy doing other things. Then, I went to Costco and did my shopping and at check out they wouldn't take my Visa credit card. I had to leave with nothing. And as I type, Carter is informing me that the lock on the sliding glass door is broke. I guess I shouldn't announce that to the world, huh? HEAVY SIGH!
Here are some pics from the park.
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?
Football season started for my oldest son yesterday, opening of college and NFL football is right around the corner, and we are right in the middle of the XXX Summer Olympics. I picked up a booklet the other day entitled Don't Waste Your Sports and thought it would be good for us to go through with Ty. Here are some thoughts from Ch 1.
Why do we have such a passion to win? Do we say it's because we are competitive or do we really just want to be admired and impress others? The problem isn't our sport of choice. Sports are definitely a gift from God and were created to be enjoyed. The problem is what comes out of our heart as we play them. Sports can be beautiful or they can be ugly. Just turn on ESPN and you will see examples of both. I read today of a woman who was abused by her coach, but was able to overcome and win the first gold medal in judo for Team USA. Then minutes later, I read of badminton teams that purposely played poorly in order to secure more favorable positions in the quarterfinals lineup. These stories were discovered after just a quick glance at the headlines. I'm sure you can recall plenty of sports headlines over the years that fit into either the "beautiful category" or the "ugly category." They happen almost everyday. So, how exactly do we keep sports beautiful? I along with my son are going to learn how and I will share with you too over the next week or so. Join me.
Here is a pic from football last year. Praying for a great year and lots of growth not only in athleticism, but most importantly in character! I love my boy!
